The Calgary Bantam Football Association is a full contact tackle football league for youth’s aged 13 to 15 years.

The league is comprised of 12 teams, 8 of which are in Calgary, and 4 which encompass the surrounding communities. The rural teams are based in Airdrie, Okotoks, Cochrane, and Strathmore . All teams play their games at Shouldice Athletic Park in northwest Calgary.

Each team is sponsored in part by local businesses and community service organizations. In the year 2018, approximately 570 youth will benefit from the sportsmanship, teamwork, exercise and leadership skills that the game of football teaches.

If you would like to explore the opportunity of sponsoring one of our teams please contact the league office or the teams directly.

Equipment and Financing

To maintain a degree of equality among the teams as well as to guarantee that each player receives the safest and highest quality equipment possible the Association buys, controls and maintains 600 sets of equipment at an approximate cost of $400 to equip each player.

All players will are issued CBFA equipment, including the helmet. All helmet brands are NOCSAE certified and none can claim to eliminate the possibility of concussion. The CBFA has used the Schutt Youth helmet for a number of years and it is deemed very safe. Parents who wish to purchase another brand of helmet for their child must sign a waiver and their coach is responsible for ensuring that it passes safety certification. Any helmets that are not properly certified, or do not adhere to the CBFA guidelines (white shell/black face mask) will result in the player being removed from game action.

Financing for the league is provided through receipts from the 50/50 draw at Calgary Stampeders home games which is shared with the Calgary Colts junior football program. Assistance is also provided through team sponsors and game day gate collection at Shouldice Park.
